Measuring your body accurately is essential for getting custom clothing that fits perfectly. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to measure your body for custom clothing.
First, gather the necessary tools. You will need a flexible measuring tape, a mirror, and someone to help you if possible.
For measuring chest circumference, wrap the measuring tape around the fullest part of your chest, under your armpits. Make sure the tape is parallel to the ground and not too tight or too loose. Take the measurement and note it down.
To measure waist circumference, find the narrowest part of your waist, usually just above the belly button. Wrap the measuring tape around this area and take the measurement.
For hip circumference, measure around the fullest part of your hips. Stand with your feet together and wrap the tape around your hips.
To measure shoulder width, place the measuring tape from one shoulder joint to the other. Make sure the tape is straight and not slanted.
For sleeve length, measure from the shoulder joint to the wrist bone. Bend your arm slightly to get an accurate measurement.
When measuring overall garment length, start from the top of the shoulder or neckline and measure down to the desired length. For dresses or skirts, measure from the waist to the hem.
It's important to take multiple measurements and average them out to ensure accuracy. Also, measure yourself in your undergarments to get the most accurate results.
